Track Season Hits the Ground Running

Nicki Ragan
CDS competed in a number of Track and Feild events in the 2020-2021 season, and there are big things ahead for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.

Track season is upon us. On Tuesday January, 18th, everyone showed up ready to work. The team has started conditioning and the coaches feel really good about this upcoming season.

Last year Camila G, Ariana D, Gregory S, and LeighAnn H all made it to the State Track Meet. This year, the coaches hope to triple the amount of people going to states.

This year the coaches hope to better their athletes by working on both their strengths and weaknesses. Coach C also hopes to work on “General conditioning, core strength, overall strength, plyometrics, speed, speed endurance. All coupled with event specifics block work, Baton exchanges. Techniques for following: jumps, throws, and hurdles”.

Coach Clarence has many goals for this season, one of them being,“I want our team to break as many records as possible and send as many as possible to the regional and state meets this year!!”

The team is very excited about the upcoming season. The Patriot Press wants to encourage everyone to support the team – so come out, have fun, and support our CDS Track team.
