What is the USFL? The USFL is the United States Football League runned by FOX Sports. The USFL has been one of the small leagues that has popped up in the past, along with the XFL. This Football league is to give many young players a second chance at the NFL. That is what the XFL planned to do in 2020 before it shut down. Both the USFL and XFL when it starts up again will support younger players when they struggle to make it through the NFL. Both Leagues will also help new rule changes in the NFL. Over time the USFL’s plan is to become a big fan favorite league during spring. USFL will start with 8 teams in North & South divisions. Birmingham, Alabama will have its first professional football team and will host the first season of the USFL. The Stallons of Birmingham have taken the stage as the highlight in the first two week. Along with teams like the New Orleans Breakers, Tampa Bay Bandits, and Houston Gamblers all starting the season with wins. The North starts with former Houston Oilers/ Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and the Michigan Panthers led by former University of Michigan QB Shea Patterson. Fisher, Patterson and the Panthers have struggled through the first week with no wins. The Pittsburgh Maulers have also struggled to win games. Philadelphia Stars and New Jersey Generals have started to settle in after a week of losses. The USFL counties in Week 3 on FOX, FS1, NBC, USA, and Peacock. In Our reviews we will highlight the scores from all the games, but give a detailed analysis of the Tampa Bay Bandits Games.

Week 3
In the most recent game of the year, the Bandits played the Houston Gamblers. Going into halftime, the Bandits were down 13-24 and it wasn’t looking good. We had lost the previous game 34-3 so it was safe to say we were in serious trouble. The 3rd quarter was a defensive match and both teams only scored a field goal. The bandits quarterback, Jordan Ta’amu threw an interception in the quarter but our defense got an interception as well. In the 4th quarter, we shut the Gamblers out 10 to 0. Ta’amu ran for a touchdown and we got another field goal. The final was 27-26 and went down to the wire. With about 30 seconds left, the Gamblers got the ball back and gave it everything they got. To end it the Bandits fell short for their second loss of the season landing below .500 and last place in the south. Houston had gained their first win of the season and held the tiebreaker over the Bandits heading into week 4.
In the other games of the week Stallions stayed undefeated by beating the New Orleans Breakers 22-13 for their first loss. The Michigan Panthers got their first win as they shut out the Maulers 24-0 as Pittsburgh has yet to win a game. Finally to end the week the Jersey Generals rallied back to beat the Philly Stars 24-16 in the fourth quarter to give the Generals their second win on top of the North Standings.

Week 4
The USFL has counted to show the world the excitement that spring football has, as most of the games have been decided by one score in the first four week. Reminder 9 points is a one score game as you can try for a three point extra point. The Bandits of Tampa Bay kicked off Saturday night against the undefeated Stallons of Birmingham. The Bandits started strong off the kick as a quick 8 play drive to set the best kicker in the league Tyler Rausa for an easy kick to make it three to nothing. The teams exchanged punts until midway through the second quarter and the Stallons took a 17 play drive and had the first touchdown of the game. The Stallons took a 7-3 lead. The Bandits quickly scored back with a 5 play touchdown drive to take the lead back 10-7. That score closed out the first half. The Stallons responded into the second half with a field goal to tie it up at 10. The Bandits had several chances to score, but could not as the Stallons took advantage of that and made it 13-10 in the fourth quarter. The Bandits kicker had missed his first kick of the season and failed to tie it up and on the Stallons last drive they kicked a game sealing field goal. The Stallons stayed undefeated and won 16-10 as the Bandits fell to .500 at 2-2. Bandits QB Jordan Ta’amu had a good outing, one of the better ones at least going 13/22 for 125 and a touchdown. Stallons QB Alex McGough didn’t make a big splash in the air, but on the ground running for 39 yards and a touchdown.
To other games around the league the Stars and Panthers kicked the week off. The Stars and Panther fought back and forth, but the Stars went out on top 26-25 improving to .500 at 2-2 and dropping the Panthers to 1-3. Generals played the Maulers to start on Saturday as the Maulers kept it close as they do in all their games, but countied to lose as well. Maulers fall 21-13 and to 0-4 and Generals stay on top of the North at 3-1. On Sunday to close out the New Orleans Breakers got back in the win column winning 23-16 over the Houston Gamblers who fall to 1-3 in last place of the South. New Orleans stays in second of the south ahead of Tampa and behind Birmingham at 3-1. Bandits Will take the stage versus Michigan Friday the 13th on USA Network.
