The movie Uncharted is based off of a video game that was created by Playstation. Comparing the movie against the video game will help get a better understanding of how realistic the movie is and stays true to the story. Uncharted was released on February 18, 2022 and it stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlburg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Nathan Drake is a treasure hunter and is recruited by professional treasure hunter Victor Sullivan to recover a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan, and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada.

This movie has a duration of 1 hour and 56 minutes and it is filled with many scenes showcasing the action, thrill, comedy, and genius of this video game. Some disagree as they suggest that the movie is an inaccurate representation of the video games, like Sam Machkovech of https://arstechnica.com. He suggests that “The final scene is the only decent part of this movie”, this is because of the helicopter scene that Drake and Sullivan must sneak onto in order to retrieve the treasure, two treasure-filled pirate ships.

The movie starts as very action-packed as it begins with the main character, Nathan Drake walking up as he is falling out of a plane for an undisclosed reason. There is already conflict and comedy in this film delivered by Tom Holland’s character. There is a flashback to the beginning of the movie with Nathan’s brother, Sam that gives the movie a sentimental feeling as we do not see Nathan’s brother in the future when the treasure hunt begins.

There is a sense of mystery to this flashback as we don’t really know why it is important to the movie yet, we figure out the reason why Nathan Drake began his treasure hunting and why he is so passionate about it. We figure out his interest in the finding of lost gold that inhabits two old Spanish pirate-ships and how he first began his treasure hunting.

Nathan Drake is extremely determined to find this treasure because it believes it can bring him to his long-lost brother. Sully believes that Natthan’s brother had been sending him clues to the lost voyages of Magellan through postcards. The difference between this movie and the actual video game is that this movie is the origin story for Nathan Drake and is not set in the middle of his treasure-hunting journey like the video game.

The movie includes some action scenes that are intense and fun to watch, like fighting on one of the Spanish ships that’s being lifted by a helicopter or flying out of a plane during one of those battles. When talking about the chemistry between the two characters, JoBlo Originals suggests “Holland and Wahlberg are pretty good together and you can see their banter improve as the story goes on, their union won’t redefine bloody movie chemistry but they are a pretty fun pair.”

Overall the movie has action-packed scenes that are fun for every age watching and has a relatively good and consistent storyline. The chemistry between Tom Holland’s and Mark Wahlburg’s character could have been better but they did a pretty good job at clearly showing the relationship between the two.
