Week 4: Cardinal Mooney

In the fourth game of the season, the CDS Patriots played the Cardinal Mooney Cougars. The game, which was decked out with lais and pineapples per the Hawiaian theme, was a Senior Night, therefore had cause for celebration, win or lose.
The game started out with a bang, Bredell R. returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown, followed by a passing touchdown also to Richardson. The defense then forced Cardinal to punt, which was also returned for a touchdown by Tavoy F. The game was now 20-0 and CDS never looked back.
The whole team looked great that night, as star running back Anthony C. ran for 2 touchdowns and over 100 scrimmage yards two games in a row. The defense held Cardinal to 0 points in the entire second half and all the seniors made great plays. Thomas P., who returned after missing 2 weeks, had a sack and defensive backs Eddie P. and Christian C. both had multiple tackles and pass breakups.

The next game is the homecoming game so make sure you go out and support your CDS Patriots!

Week 5: Rockledge

This past week’s game was homecoming week and the game was one no one will forget, for better and worse. Though the team lost, homecoming is a time to have fun and join together with all your classmates for the entire week. And sure, losing isn’t fun, but at least the team played with heart and spirit. Heck, at least they got to even play.
Up until Hurricane Ian, the team was scheduled to play Lemon Bay from Fort Myers, and we all know what went down in Fort Myers 2 weeks ago. (Our hearts go out to the families and schools that have been displaced by the storm.) Because Lemon Bay was no longer able to play, the athletics department had to make a few phone calls to teams throughout Florida. It appears that many teams were scrambling to fill new holes in their season, as the first two teams we called had already rescheduled to play each other. The third team was Rockledge, and they ended up being our opponent.
Star running back Anthony C. was out due to an injury he received the week before but was walking on the sideline looking fine the entire game, so be sure to see him out on the field a lot in week 6. If he’s not able to play, I don’t think it’s the biggest cause for concern because Almari B was able to step up in really big shoes in the Rockledge game. However, one injury that’s not too clear, is starting quarterback Jake C, who went down later in the game due to a shoulder (or back) injury. Alvaunte B. came in and looked good, so even if Jake C. practices, expect Alvaunte to get the starting job for week 6.
Next week, the CDS Patriots are on the road against Seffner Christian.
