With this year’s musical Footloose being less than a week away, everyone can’t wait to see it all come together. Footloose is about a boy named Ren, a very jumpy and charismatic character who moves to Bomont, a city where dancing is against the law because of an accident that happened 5 years before. When he gets to the town, he meets Ariel, the preacher’s daughter who is a bit of a troublemaker and wants to rebel at any sign of authority, Willard, his new best friend that can’t dance to save his life, and Rusty, a spunky and upbeat girl who’s a little boy crazy for Willard and is also Ariel’s best friend. Together, they try to find a way to get this law to be abolished, but Reverend Moore, the high power of the town and Ariel’s father, isn’t so easily persuaded.
This year CDS celebrates their 40th anniversary, so the musical Footloose ties into the celebration of new beginnings.
“The audience can look forward to the amazing dances and cool lighting that happens in some of the scenes,” said Cayden M., a senior who is playing Ren.
“My favorite line from the play would probably be ‘listen to the music in your soul.’ I think it really sums up what the play is about.” said Izzy R., a sophomore who is playing Rusty.
The play dates for Footloose are February 24th, 25th, and 26th. For the 24th and 25th, the start time is 7:00 PM, and on the 26th it will start at 2:00 PM. You can buy the tickets at https://events.veracross.com/cds/3-Footloose
