Honoring Our Senior Athletes: Fall Signing Day
Signing Day is here!
Through all their hard work and dedication, these three seniors are embarking on their new journey playing the sport they love at the collegiate level! These seniors shared their opinion on the colleges they chose and how the signing day went.
All 3 seniors committed to play volleyball and said they were very excited to start this next chapter of their life. Jasmine Welton, who is committed to University of Arkansas at Monticello shared how she loves the campus and is so excited to major for what she has always wanted to be and play the sport she loves.
When asking Jasmine why she chose this college, she explained how she felt by saying “At first I wasn’t interested in UAM but when I first toured there, I went in with an open mind. When I got there I fell in love with the campus and everything about it and knew it was the right fit.” Jasmine loved how the signing day went and stated that her favorite part was “Taking pictures with my friends and family.”
Signing to Brown University, Jessie Golden who is also committed for volleyball began to explain why she chose this college stating “I chose this college because I felt very comfortable at the campus and it has a high academic culture.” Jessie was very happy about how the signing went and stated that a big inspiration for her speech was making sure her friends, coaches, and family knew that they were a big part in her commitment and wanting to thank them for all of their support.
Lastly, Laney Higgins, who committed to Oglethorpe University, has visited the campus 3 times in the past year and goes in depth when stating “It’s a beautiful campus. I love how CDS is a smaller school with great teachers and that’s one of the things I really wanted and found with Oglethorpe.” Laney is also committed for volleyball and shares how much she loves the team after stating “ I also have loved getting to know the team there. The team is like a family, which is exactly what I was looking for in my next chapter.” Laney thought the signing went really well and her favorite part was the sport of volleyball being able to be showcased on a big stage in front of the entire school.
