In Case You Missed It: World Series Recap

World Series Game Preview 10/25/21
Braves/Astros

The Fall Classic as they like to call it. The Series that these players work all the way from the minors to the big leagues all the way since March. From the first pitch to the last this is the series we wait all year for, 180 plus games played to get here and these two teams in the Braves and Astros are here. The Astros are in the world series for the third time in five years and have had almost the same roster. The only issue they faced is having the cheating scandal, but it might have helped them since the fact that Dusty Baker became their manager and is who created the high five. So pretty cool to have him as your coach, or at least I would think so. His last world series appearance was as a Giants coach and they lost to the Angles in the early 2000. On the other side of home plate is Brain Snitker and the Braves. The Braves finally got the best of the Dodgers and are in the World Series. They have won four straight National League east division titles. For their manager Brian Snitker he has been in baseball for over 45 years now and been in the Braves organization for the past 44 years. He was a player in 1977, but was soon cut then Hank Aaron who was in the Braves system at the time hired him as a coach in the minor leagues. Snitker soon worked his way up and down through the teams Minor and big league. He took over as manager in 2016 and is now in his first world series.
For the teams they probably have the two best infields in the league. The Braves have Gold Glover Freddie Freeman at first along with two young middle infielders Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson, former number one overall pick. In the hot corner at third base MVP candidate Austin Riley. This was the Braves only hope this season when they were under 500 after the all star break. With Ronald Acuna, Mike Sorka and Mchael Ozuna out, Alex Anthopoulios, the President of Baseball operations, got to work at the deadline. He acquired Eddie Rosario from the Indians who was the NLCS MVP. Then soon later added Jroge Soler from the Royals, Joc Peterson from the Cubs, and Adam Duvall from the Marlins. This is one of the best trade deadlines in MLB history for one single team. Now to the Astros, they have had about the same roster since 2016. Their infield in game four would become the same infield to play the most postseason games together. With Alex Bregman in the hot corner, Corlos Correa and Jose Altuve in the middle infield,Along with the AL batting champ Yuil Gurriel at first base. The outfield has Michel Brantley, Kyle Tucker, Chas McCormick, and Jose Siri. Those guys have been know as some of the most underrated.
The fall classic will find its way through the cities of Atlanta and Houston as game one in Houston with Charlie Morton for the Braves against Farmber Valdez for the Astros.

World Series 10/26/21
Game 1 Atlanta Braves at Houston Astros

Game one of the World Series Braves at Astros. The Braves have their 38 year old ace in Charlie Morton who has been elite all year. Just helping the Braves get past the Dodgers. The Astros had their ace in the postseason in Farmber Valdez who has had his ups and downs just like all the other Astros pitching. He did have a eight inning shutout in Boston to help send the Astros to this game. The Astros are coming into this game with great batting and a great bullpen to support their starters. Same with the Braves. As the game started the odds were slightly on the Astros. The Braves started strong with a Jorge Soler leadoff home run. Then an Ozzie Albies double led to a RBI from Austin Riley. The Braves took the lead 2-0 in the first. Then soon after a good inning from Morton the Braves soon went back to work and on an infield single from Jorge Soler, Travis d’Arnaud scored. The Braves soon had a three nothing lead. Charlie Morton went back out. He took a line drive to the ankle, but seemed to be ok after striking out two batters and allowing no hits in the bottom of the third. Then soon after the Braves got an Adam Duvall homer as Eddie Rosario scored. The trade deadline proved to be big for the Braves as Duvall, Rosario, and Soler all made big impacts in the game. The Braves led five-nothing until Tucker scored on an error by Dansby Swanson. The score did not change as the bullpens came out. For the Braves it was AJ Minter and Luke Jackson after the season ending injury to Charlie Morton. For the Astros Yimi Garcia, Jake Odorizzi, and Phil Maton all went in and shut down the Braves offense. The Astros got a ground ball out to get the runner in and the Braves had a Sacrifice fly out to center as the final run came to score. As the game came to the final the Braves took game one 6-2 and would have Max Fried and Jose Urquidy on the mound. The Braves look to take the 2-0 lead when they go home. As the Astros look to tie the series when they head to Atlanta.

World Series 10/27/21
Game 2 Atlanta Braves at Houston Astros

In game two of the Series the star for the Braves took the mound in Max Fried and the Rookie for the Astros Jose Urquidy had the ball to start the game. The Astros got on base early as with a Sacrifice fly they got the first run in during the bottom of the first. Soon later the Braves went to hit again, with a Travis d’Arnaud home run they tied it up. Max Fried would continue to struggle as so did the Braves infield. With a couple of bad pitches and errors by the Braves the Astros scored four runs in the bottom of the second. Soon after Max Fried got back to his normal game and pitched well until the fifth. After that Brian Snitker and the Braves went to the Bullpen. Same did Dusty Baker and the Astros in the fifth. Dylan Lee, Jesse Chavez, Drew Smyly, and Kyle Wright all finished the game for the Braves. For the Astros Cristian Javier, Phil Maton, Ryan Pressly, and Kendall Graveman finished. These bullpens were great for the rest of the game. The Astros scored two more runs in the sixth and seventh to make the score seven to two. The Series would head to Atlanta with Luis Garcia on the mound for the Astros and Ian Anderson on the mound for the Braves.

World Series 10/29/21
Game 3 Houston Astros at Atlanta Braves
This Game is what all Atlanta fans were waiting for a World Series game back at home. The Braves have Anderson on the mound which they should feel good about. The Astros just had to be hopeful as Luis Gracia has been good, but inconsistent. Both teams were shut out until the bottom of the third when the Braves got several hits and got one run in to take an early one to nothing lead. Soon after Luis Gracia got pulled from the game and the Astros went to the Bullpen. Blake Taylor, Yimi Gracia, Brooks Raley, Ryne Stanek, and Kendall Graveman all finished the game for the Astros. They held their end of the bargain until the eighth when Travis d’Arnaud hit a homer to extend the lead. The Braves had Ian Anderson go five innings and resulted in their outstanding bullpen also known as night shift which has pitchers like AJ Minter, Luke Jackson,Tyler Matzek, and Will Smith which kept the game shut down and helped them seal their two to nothing win. The Braves would head to game four with a two to one series lead and in front of their home crowd.

World Series 10/30/21
Game 4 Houston Astros @ Atlanta Braves
Braves country was rockin as they looked to take a series 3-1. Zach Grinkie who has been known for being a good veteran pitcher and hitter going up against Dylan Lee who just got called to play in the world series as he was not on the roster at the beginning of the series. He replaced Huscar Ynoa on the roster. Lee started the game and it did not go well giving several hits and letting the Astros take a one nothing lead. Lee left the game after just getting one out as a new pitcher who came on the roster for Charlie Morton. Kyle Wright came in and pitched very well and went four and two out until he let the Astros get another run in the fourth. Zach Grinke went four scoreless and pitched well as then the Astros went to the bullpen with Ryan Stanek, Brooks Raley, Phil Maton, Chritan Javier, and Ryan Pressley all pitched in and ended blowing the lead. The Braves went on to score two runs on Christan Javier with back to back homeruns.
