In A League of Their Own: Varsity Girls Soccer

Every practice, the soccer team starts with team dynamic stretches.

As fall sports come to an end here at CDS, winter sports are now in full swing. After their 2020-2021 season, the girls’ varsity soccer team here at CDS is back and better than ever, accompanied by head coach Donna Holyman. With an 8-0 victory against Universal Academy on Monday, November 8, and a 6-2 victory against Seffner Christian on Tuesday, November 16, the girls started off this season undefeated. Sadly, this streak was broken, after a loss against Berkeley on Thursday, November 18, with a final score of 5-1. The beginning of this game was promising for the girls, as Camila Garanton scored the first point of the match, beating the Buccaneers to the opening goal.

The Patriots now hold a record of two wins and one loss this season, with a total of 15 goals under their belt. After Thanksgiving break, they return with two back-to-back away games, followed by another home game on December 6 against Tampa Catholic. Now that they’ve moved up districts from 2A to 3A, the girls have a tough season ahead of them, and will need all of the support they can get!
